OLG Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Structural CAD Technician to work for a client based in Willerby. This is a permanent role working full time hours.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Structural CAD Technician to join our clients growing design team.
This role is ideal for a candidate with a degree in Structural Engineering who enjoys combining engineering understanding with practical CAD design. You will develop detailed design solutions for our GRP permanent formwork systems used in bridge and civil structures, working closely with clients, engineers, and production teams to ensure structural integrity, buildability, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design bespoke GRP permanent formwork systems for bridge and civil structures, including cantilever panels, haunched panels, Lite panels, and coper units.
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or Inventor.
- Apply structural engineering principles to ensure the integrity, performance, and compliance of designs.
- Liaise with customers, structural engineers, and contractors to understand project requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Collaborate with production to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and meet quality standards.
- Conduct occasional site visits to assess requirements and provide technical support.
- Contribute to product development, continuous improvement, and innovation initiatives.
- Stay current with best practices in composite materials, bridge design, and digital engineering.
About You:
You will bring both technical engineering knowledge and CAD design experience, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng or MEng).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, and/or Revit.
- Strong understanding of structural behaviour, load paths, and detailing principles.
- At least 3–5 years’ experience in a design engineering or CAD technician role.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and close attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and meetings.
Desirable:
- Experience with GRP or composite materials.
- Familiarity with bridge or civil infrastructure design.
