OLG Recruitment are currently looking for a Process Engineer to work for a client based in Stallingborough. This is a full time, permanent position with a salary of £50,000 - £60,000k per annum, dependent on experience.

The Role

The successful candidate will report to the Process Engineering Lead, and you will be accountable for providing daily technical support, reviewing plant production data for the purposes of identifying day to day efficiency improvements, whilst also identifying and implementing short-term technical improvement in support of safe, quality, low-cost, sustainable production in the base pigment plant area. This is a ‘safety critical role’.

Primary Responsibilities

•           Provide technical direction to the production department on a daily basis.

•           Undertake short term process optimisation

•           Responsible for rigorous analysis of production data and databases

•           Manages/coordinates improvements or small capital projects

•           Lead and support investigations on plant incidents & near misses relating to both occupational and process safety, quality and reliability.

•           Maintaining, reviewing & updating operation documentation relating to the process area.

•           Support the plant vulnerabilities review process along with the Production Coordinator.

•           Support maintenance shutdowns, scoping, preparation and execution phases.

•           Support plant trials led by the Research and T&I groups.

•           Support commissioning of process improvements implemented by the process technical team.

•           Participate in the site “Duty Weekend Rota” acting as Duty Manager for on call weekends.

•           Satisfy the requirements of the role under Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) as detailed in the Stallingborough site safety instruction SHEI-2C-6.

 

Site Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

•           Daily process monitoring for nominated plant areas, escalating any issues as required.

•           Provide technical support relating to the base pigment plant to colleagues across the organisation.

•           Lead investigations and conduct root cause analysis for issues relating to the technical operation of the base plant.

•           Identify and prioritise resolution of plant vulnerabilities.

•           Implement process changes following the change order (management of change) process.

•           Reduction of site alarm and ESD activations through identification and resolution of bad actors.

•           Technical responsibility of cooling water/water treatment systems.

•           Carry out safety audits.

•           Identify capital requirements, formulate business case and submit applications.

•           Deputise for the Process Engineering Lead.

•           Perform other reasonable duties as requested by the Operations Manager & Process Engineering Lead.

 

About You:

The successful candidate will have the following:

•           Chemical Engineering or Chemistry degree, ideally working towards chartered level

•           Experience within a continuous manufacturing process environment; preferably a top tier COMAH Site

•           Member of the IChemE

•           A self-starter with a “Can Do” approach, with strong personal initiative, accountability and problem solving skills

•           Good people motivator and communicator who can achieve results through working with people in an informal culture.

•           Proven capability of working within multi-discipline teams.

•           Act as a role model to others by demonstrating high standards of work practice and behaviour in line with the company’s’ code of business ethics and core values.

•           Ability to influence and coach personnel to support high performance.

•           Ability to develop and learn an in-depth technical understanding of plant chemical processes and unit operations relevant to the process area

•           Excellent attention to detail, with strong written and verbal communication skills plus the ability to interact at all levels of the organisation.

•           Knowledge and understanding of process design, calculations, specification and commissioning procedures.

•           Ability to obtain and analyse a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative data.
