OLG are recruiting a Permit Officer for a 12 month contract located in the South East. Experience within the LNG, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas Industries is essential.

ROLE OVERVIEW

  • To act as the Issuing Authority at the customer’s LNG terminal, using the site’s own permit to work system, in order to co-ordinate the safe systems of work and ensure that each activity undertaken by the project contractors can be carried out in a safe environment considering the risks both of the individual job, all other work at the terminal and within the construction area, and the prevailing operational conditions.
  • Be conversant with and able to provide expert guidance on, the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, and other applicable legal requirements, regulations, and industry standards. 
  • Prepare, implement, communicate and maintain project-specific HSE plan and supporting management system documents, data and records. 
  • Monitor/measure/report key characteristics of HSE performance and Key Performance Indicators, identify trends and appropriate corrective action. 
  • Provide health and safety expertise, input and assurance to engineering activities. 
  • Ensure that risk assessments and accompanying documentation produced in support of work to be undertaken within the Customer’s operational site boundary are suitable and sufficient, and compliant with relevant standards, rules and regulations. 
  • Coordinate and participate in audits and planned / ad hoc safety inspections. Capture and communicate outcomes. 
  • Review induction and training provisions to ensure that personnel are aware of all site-specific risks and controls, including those related to site security, Golden Rules and behavioural safety expectations. 
  • Ensure that hazards and incidents (including near-misses) are reported and trended, that requisite investigations are undertaken, root-cause analysis employed where appropriate, and that corrective/preventative actions are assigned and completed. 
  • Advise and support the Project Management Team on HSE issues, and supervise and direct Site Safety and Environment Inspectors
