We have an exciting new opportunity for Head of Civil & Structural for our client in Immingham. 

The key duties are as follows:

  • Sourcing and executing work for the department
  • BID management, completion of tenders and building of cost estimates
  • Continuous monitoring of staff requirements
  • Attracting and retaining talent through effective recruitment, mentoring and training
  • Monitor progress of jobs within the department, ensuring they deliver to the required quality, timescale and budget
  • Monitor progress and performance of all personnel within the department to assure quality of work product and ensure continuity of design methods
  • Training and competencies of department personnel
  • Initiate, review, and approve routine performance appraisals
  • Demonstrate customer focus
  • Be a technical expert, setting design philosophy on projects and driving technical assurance and safety by design within a regime of continuous improvement
  • Ensure OLG Engineering procedures, specifications, standards, technical guidance and work instructions are followed
  • Review and approve timesheets, holidays and expenses for departmental personal
  • Work closely with other departments, including the fabrication and operations teams
  • Preparation and checking of Design & Analysis calculations to Eurocodes & client specifications for superstructures, foundations and other civil & structural deliverables
  • Undertake inspection reports
  • Lead constructability reviews and review design risk registers to ensure safe efficient designs are delivered by OLG Engineering
  • Act as client’s engineer and technical authority

Keys Skills:

  • Evidence of work winning
  • Experience of working in a multi-discipline and an EPC or D&B environment
  • Ability to estimate design & engineering hours and fabrication & construction budgets
  • Proven track record of building & retaining dynamic engineering teams
  • Design using tools such as StaadPro, Tekla Building Designer and hand calculations to Eurocode, preferably with knowledge of AISC, DNV and the former British Standards
  • Minimum of 10-15 years post graduate training
  • Chartered With IStructE or ICE with a design engineering bias

Pay and Benefits

  • 40 hours per week
  • Hybrid working after 3 months
  • 08:00 am - 16:30 pm
  • 25 holidays + 8 bank holidays

  • Based at Immingham
