OLG Recruitment have a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Design Leader for a long-established manufacturing client located along the Humber Bank, Immingham. This is a permanent vacancy with an attractive employment/benefits package. Ideally you will have a strong background of mechanical/pipework engineering/design.
Summary
Accountable for: Effective management and control of engineering documentation and design for the site. Also, for providing effective administrative support to the Projects team to enable the team to fully execute the capital plan.
Main Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to the Drafting and Document Control personnel
- Manage the operation of the Site drawing offices (internal or external), prioritising work flow in conjunction with customers
- Provide technical support to Operations and Engineering teams (e.g. supply of up to date information)
- Assist in the preparation of documentation packages - checking and verifying design drawings conform to specifications and design data
- Ensure design work is carried out to the company and Regional Standards, specifications and procedures
- Ensure consultants/contractors doing work are supplied with the correct up to date revisions of standards, specifications and procedures
Site Specific Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct management of design engineering functions (including technical documentation and records), ensuring that all activities are carried out in compliance with the company engineering standards/procedures/ processes and statutory requirements. Provide appropriate design resource capability for the department.
- Ensure all design engineering personnel comply with their contractual obligations and accepted good working practices with regard to time keeping, conduct and performance. Ensuring that discipline is maintained in a professional manner and bringing to the attention of the T&I manager any matter which may affect the efficient operation or reputation of the Project Engineering Dept
- Develop and maintain effective communications between all engineering personnel, project stakeholders, supporting functions, vendors, contractors and other third parties for each project the incumbent is responsible for. Act as the site’s key point of contact for any external design houses engaged
- Responsible for providing the administrative support to the Projects team and where necessary the wider site. This support is to be provided in a timely manner to ensure that the team can successfully execute the capital and site plan
- Satisfy the requirements of the role under Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) as detailed in the Stallingborough site safety instruction SHEI-2C-6
Qualifications:
- Degree Qualified in relevant engineering discipline (preferred but equivalent relevant experience will be considered)
- NEBOSH Certificate (preferred)
- Design or project management experience within a chemical manufacturing environment, preferably Top Tier COMAH site

- Experience of leading teams and/or line management experience within a chemical manufacturing process environment; preferably a top tier COMAH Site
- Experience of the procedures, checks and balances that would be expected for design, documentation and project management in a Top Tier COMAH environment is essential.
- Strong impact and influencing skills
Technical and Information Skills:
- Preferably 4 - 8 years relevant engineering, design and project management experience within a chemical manufacturing environment, preferably with 1 - 3 years Top Tier COMAH site and ideally TiO2 experience.
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary design teams
- Effective communications skills and the ability to talk to people at all levels of the organisation
- Ability to identify, analyse and propose solutions to engineering and administrative problems in a positive manner
- Ability to manage and forecast schedule and cost estimates to meet project and site objectives
- Preferred but not essential – familiarity with SAP
- Preferred but not essential - Awareness of legislation relating to the application of the CDM Regs 2015
