The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for us to recruit an Electrical Technician, within the Maintenance Department at one of our clients based on the South Humber Bank. The role of the Electrical Technician will involve carrying out electrical maintenance to the power plant systems to ensure the continued production of electricity to meet customer requirements, achieving best business value and compliance with HSE, company and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Lead Technician, the key responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Executing routine and non-routine maintenance activities in accordance with agreed procedures and operational requirements to ensure plant is operating safely, effectively and efficiently. Ensuring safe working practices and procedures are adhered to within the work area
  • Carrying out first line electrical maintenance activities on all equipment with operating voltages from 12v-400kv, responding to emergency / unscheduled situations in the event of abnormal incidents in order to protect plant and personnel ensuring compliancy with safety and environmental policies
  • Investigating complex technical problems relating to critical plant, identifying, diagnosing and reporting defects within the plant utilising the Maintenance Management system (SAP). Defects are resolved whilst maintaining station performance and meeting operational targets by returning plant to normal operating service.
  • Preparing method statements, risk assessment and / or plant operating instructions, for work orders. Ensuring the required level of maintenance to assets is achieved and records maintained.
  • Sourcing spares, identifying areas of obsolescence and ensuring correct levels of spares.
  • Providing practical discipline leadership for the work, carrying out the delegate person responsibility to assist in ensuring site compliance and elements of the Business Management System reflect the site practices.
  • Adopting technical lead role where technical specialist in area of work carried out, in accordance with requests from the maintenance team leader.
  • Providing Service Support function to the Operations department and ensures defects and status of any maintenance activity is effectively communicated to the shift teams.
  • Supporting the delivery of low-risk contracts, monitoring performance and review with direction and support of the maintenance/engineering team leader.

The Ideal Candidate

Background

  • Demonstrable experience within the power generation or similar process industry (essential).
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment.
  • Experience of working with Voltages from 12v-16Kv.

Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised formal training programme or apprenticeship to achieve technician status (C&G, parts I, II and III) (essential).
  • Possess a HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline (desirable).
  • Minimum of ONC (or equivalent experience) in an appropriate discipline (desirable).
  • Member of a relevant professional institution (desirable).

Remuneration

The successful candidate will be appointed at the appropriate grade (G2) within the Collective Agreement.  The starting salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications.
