The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen within the Engineering department at our clients site based in Lynemouth. We are looking for and Engineer with a Control & Instrumentation background to work within the onsite multi-disciplined engineering team. The successful candidate will carry out a variety of control engineering tasks on plant and equipment relating to both electrical generation and fuel handling activities.
Key Responsibilities
Working as a member of a multi-disciplined engineering team and reporting to the Senior C&I Engineer, the key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining a variety of DCS, PLC and SCADA systems across several different operational environments.
- Developing and implementing best practice and innovative solutions to improve the process performance.
- Responsibility for ensuring cost effective C&I solutions are produced to relevant company/industry standards.
- Providing prompt fault finding and troubleshooting support for all site plant, equipment and infrastructure for both the C&I maintenance and engineering teams.
Our Ideal Candidate
Background
- Professional experience which demonstrates an ability to work at this level in a C&I environment.
- Detailed knowledge and programming experience of DCS, PLC & SCADA systems (i.e. Rockwell, Emerson, Wonderware or similar equipment).
- Industrial Networking knowledge.
- Working knowledge of instrumentation and control architecture systems, such as mass, temperature, pressure, level and flow.
- Fault finding and rectifying problems on control and instrumentation equipment, DCS, SCADA and PLC’s.
- Functional safety knowledge (IEC 61508 or IEC 61511).
- Working knowledge of current legislation and how to apply it within an operational environment ATEX, DSEAR, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, etc.
- Ability to create, read and work from C&I drawings/documents.
- Testing, maintaining and modifying existing control systems to relevant procedures/standards.
- Awareness of HV systems and equipment.
- Experience / knowledge of safe systems of work including permit to work, method statements and risk assessments.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure and working to tight timescales.

Qualifications
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering HNC/HND – minimum qualification level required.
- Strong IT skills.
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or comparable equivalent – desirable.
- IEng or CEng status with a relevant professional institution – desirable.
- IOSH – desirable.
Remuneration
The successful candidate will be appointed on a personal contract which reflects the responsibilities of the role as well as the abilities of the individual.
